GOOD GRADES
While training regularly at New School Aikido every child improves his or her grades at school. Focus works!
I want to thank New School Aikido for their efforts to help my son. My son used to be very shy, and I had a hard time pushing him out of his shell. A few months after he started Aikido classes, his personality changed positively; He is very confident now and the most important thing is that he is doing better in school. I definitely recommend New School Aikido to everybody. - Sarah from Stockton
SOCIAL SKILLS
Because Aikido orients your child towards co-operative problem solving instead of competition, your child learns how to work successfully with others.
SELF CONFIDENCE / SELF ESTEEM
With safety as the goal, your child learns how natural it is to protect him or herself. Aikido remains the only martial art based on safety for ALL.
Through a combination of “Positive Discipline” and the revolutionary techniques of Aikido, children at New School Aikido learn that safety is natural, includes everyone and can be accomplished quickly and effectively. That respect works both ways. That discipline always gets results and that life is filled with challenges and good times.
The Youth Program is an integrated system with multiple levels and ages of play. The system encourages children to want to move upward into the "older kids" classes while remaining focused on the development of skill sets important to good Aikido. The method I have chosen to help kids with the resistance to moving to other classes as they progress and grow is genetic impetus (the natural tendency of kids to want to be older kids).
OUR PROGRAM
The Kizan Ko classes (ages 4-7) are taught on the mat at the same time as the Mat Rat (ages 7-11 or so) classes. The Mat Rats get this generational motivation from the fact that most of the Teens (ages 11-14) are asked to assist the Mat Rats as a part of their normal training. The Teens are assisted by adults and invited to the Adult Basic classes in order to encourage them to move on to the adult classes.
The Kizan Ko classes are small by design. We like to keep a 5 - 1 student/teacher ratio.
In the Mat Rat Program, we keep a 10-1 Student to Teacher Ratio.
At New School Aikido we are committed to the idea that each child is wonderfully unique and has many talents. We believe that children deserve to know how natural it is to stay safe. How the ability to say no is just as important as the ability to say yes. How success follows discipline. How play can lead to greater levels of understanding. How trust and goodwill enhances all areas of life.
Both Children & Juniors go through a stepped curriculum with stories, techniques, principles and games that help them grow holistically.
